Dan Karm Psaila was a famous author and poet of Malta. He was born in 18 October 1871 . Psaila is sometimes called ”The Bard of Malta ” . He was educated in the years 1885-1884 and then proceeded to study philosophy in 1888 and theology in 1890 at the university of Malta. In 1894 Dun was a priest and he had a lot of seminaries in Italian, Latin, English, arithmetic, geography, cosmography, ecclesiastical history and Cristian archeology. In 1921 Dun was an assistant librarian at the National Library of Malta. 1923 he began his carrier as Directory of libraries until his retirement in 1936. The big thing Dun was famuos for was that he wrote the nathional anthem for Malta called ”The Innu Malti” . It was sung for the fist time in 1923. Before 1912 Dun wrote only in Italian . Dun often found poetic expression in his surroundings. His books show his backgrounds of the village life with a atmosphere of family feelings. The books also show the Maltese countryside. The books show the popular culture of the Maltese people. Many of his poems were translated into English .
